Every year the Friends of Camp Geiger http://friendsofcampgeiger.webs.com/ educate the public by staging a weekend re-enactment of Civil War Battles.  They have an entire camp where they talk to you about life during the Civil War Era.  The participants have very authentic props and clothing.  They take the re-enacting very seriously.  I thought I knew a lot about the Civil War, but after listening to them, I realized that I had a lot to learn.  The re-enactments show different aspects of battle besides shooting at the enemy: preparation, waiting, strategizing, treating the wounded, being taken prisoner, negotiating, surrender, victory.  I photographed some of the action and some of the people I met.  I’ll be marking my calendar for this year’s event on June 14 & 15, 2015.
