Digital Photo Review is a fantastic resource for photographers. They review photography equipment, post articles, host galleries and discussion forums, and offer challenges on different subjects. You can enter photos in these challenges and then people vote on them. It’s a good way to get feedback on your images, as well as see what other photographers are shooting. I sometimes enter these challenges. So far, I’ve gotten 1st place in 4 challenges. This photo was my latest winner. The challenge was called “faces in strange places”. I visited Longwood Gardens and saw these tiny orchids. When I looked more closely at them, I saw what appeared to be faces at the center of each flower. I grabbed my macro lens and took a few photos. The faces remind me of someone from Carnival, or the Cirque du Soleil, or Carmen Miranda, or a showgirl. Now that I’m more focused on photography, I see things that I never saw before.
