Infrared Photography

Photography literally means “writing with light”. One of the exciting things I’m experimenting with this summer is infrared photography. The infrared spectrum has a longer wavelength than the regular light that humans can perceive. Infrared photography gives us a completely different way to see the world. I had an old camera converted to shoot infrared, and I’m trying it for the first time. This image of “The Two Trees” is an excellent example of the way the infrared spectrum is different than our own. The green leaves look white, the blue sky looks dark, and the detail in the tree bark stands out. I can’t wait to write with more infrared light! Stay tuned.
